Don't panic! We know that it can be a frightful sight to see such a large congregation of the misunderstood species. Bees have an intimidating reputation, but they are not usually aggressive. They are even less likely to act out when they are in a "swarm".
Sometimes the bees are just trying to find shelter from bad weather. A large swarm of bees typically indicates they are in between hives. Before abandoning their current home; they will fill theirselves with honey (to be regurgitated later. They can pack themselves so full, even if they were antagonized, they can face extreme difficulty getting their bodies curled up into the stinging position.
They will typically hide out in a shrub or tree while their "scouts" search for a viable location for their next hive. This can take a few days. So unless the bees are posing a threat; you can leave them and they will be out of your hair soon enough.
When should I call a bee removal service?
- If for any reason you feel unsafe.
- If you notice the bees are hanging around after the Inclimate weather has passed.
- If they are in an area where they can not be avoided and are likely to become aggitated at your presence. (Entrances to the home, garage doors, Children's play areas or animal areas)
- If they are beginning to enter or cluster on your home.
- The biggest of all reasons would be if anyone, who will be in their vicinity, has an allergy. If they were able to sting it could lead to a trip to the ER or worse.
Contact a local bee removal service company to have them safely relocated to secluded environment where they can continue to do their work without posing a threat.
When choosing a company to handle your bees, please be sure that they will make every attempt to save them before performing an extermination.
