Bee Control in Houston
Most companies split their services into three catagories; Swarm Removals, Exterminations, and Hive Removals. Pricing and specifics vary from company to company. So we have done the research for you. Unfortunately, we weren't able to include every company in the area. I searched about 20 but most don't list their prices on the web site, YIKES! Perhaps in the near future; I will revisit the topic! Our findings are below.
Cost of Bee Control in Houston:
A basic bee removal job starts at $75 to $150; more complex jobs can cost $200 to $800 or as much as $1,000 to $2,000+. In-structure bee removal (such as inside of a wall) is typically the most expensive.

This can be a difficult thing to assess because of the varying pricing tactics used. Here are some specifics with a link to a chart of comparable services in the area below!
Extermination: As unfortunate as it may be; live removals are not always possible. It could be the location of the bees, health of the colony, or species of insect. When these circumstances occur most bee removal companies offer an extermination service. This would be the area interpreted as "basic" job. In the Cost Owl description.*
In the Houston area we have encountered prices from $99 up to nearly $400.
Swarm Removal: According to costhelper.com, the average cost of a swarm removal is anywhere from $75-$200 or more.
In our experience, the Houston area is priced higher. We have been told by customers they are being quote up to nearly $400 for a swarm removal. Most are priced in the $200-$325 range.
Structural Removal: In the event that you need a structural removal or a hive removal prices vary significantly because of pricing structures (see below). The average removal takes 2+hours. In this time, your bees are vacuumed, the hive is removed, the area is cleaned and treated, repairs (if offered) are completed, and the area is sealed. Now the bees are relocated to their new home where they can continue to pollinate in an area that poses no threat to you or your loved ones!
Our clients have encountered quotes from $300 up. The average job falling in the $600 range when you tack on the "hourly labor fee hidden in the bottom of the price sheet with the *.
- Buzzkill's is typically in the 300-400 range with no hourly fees.
Why Buzzkill?
Of course I am partial to the flat rate up front estimate we offer at Buzzkill and here is why.
We set up our payment structure in the most ethical and efficient way we knew how. Straight forward, honest, and easily understood. Our customers are always aware of their cost before they receive the bill. Furthermore, we chose not to bill by the hour because we know what we do takes time. Especially when done right! You shouldn't have to pay extra to have the job you are already paying for done correctly!
We offer numerous discounts! There is typically something for everyone including; Veterans, Military, Seniors, (60+), Public Educators, and First Responders. Not to mention regular promotions!
Our website shows what we refer to as a "ball park price". This is the number we tell clients when they call before the estimate to prepare them. Sometimes it is more. Sometimes it is less. Either way, they know before they are ever obligated to pay a penny. You won't have to sit in your house and watch your clock calculating the hourly rate. You also won't have to skip critical steps to cut costs.
Bee Control Pricing:
There are a lot of options for bee removal services in the Houston area, and many of them structure their pricing different.
Buzzkil, for example, will quote a flat rate based on the completed job with taxes and labor included. Others typically charge in one of these two ways:
- base price plus hourly rates for labor plus taxes.
- per action; removal+repair+seal+etc.
So which plan is right for you? For obvious reasons I prefer Buzzkill's pricing strategy. Not only is it typically the most cost effective in removals, but it's all inclusive. No guessing! As far as your other options; it really depends on the services you prefer, and how long they will take. For example if you are looking at a job that is going to take 4-5 hours rather than pay $99 an hour you may want to price out a step-by-step with a charge per action plan. If the hive is easily accessible, you should consider the base rate plus hourly. Just ensure that your technician is being efficient and not milking the clock!
